Irina graduated in Russia in 1981 and worked as a family doctor and a hospital physician for 15 years before emigrating with her family to New Zealand in 1996. She has worked at Petone Medical Centre since 2008 and has extensive experience working with people of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. She is especially passionate about disease prevention and education to help with self management of chronic conditions. Irina also has a special interest and specific training in travel and refugee medicine, and skin cancer diagnosis and treatment.

Rakesh has experience in management of Orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions. Also he has special interest in skin cancer diagnosis and management.
Deepshika has been working at Petone Medical Centre since September 2014. She really enjoys the diverse cultural atmosphere of Petone.
She has had a background of working in paediatrics while in India and the UK before coming to New Zealand where she joined the General Practice Programme. She is aiming to gain new skills especially in the field of skin cancer diagnosis and eventually in Family Planning medicine.
Practice Nurse Manager
Catherine has been working part-time at Petone Medical Centre since 2007. She is responsible for overseeing the mammogram screening, annual diabetes reviews and retinal screening.
Outside of work she volunteers as a refugee English tutor and listening to children reading at a local school. She is married with four children, is a keen gardener and enjoys dancing and watching cricket.
Melissa had been nursing in the hospital setting for 11 years, and has been working in primary health care since 2014. She has a special interest in long term conditions and diabetes.
Melissa is a mother to an active young boy which keeps her busy. She enjoys being active, reading and spending time with family.
Ruth started work as a Practice Nurse at Petone Medical Centre in 1996. She has an interest in Travel Medicine (Diploma in Travel Medicine 2010) and Refugee and Migrant health. She has a background in Community Health, paediatric nursing, and Public Health.
When she is not at Petone Medical Centre she is sometimes found doing volunteer work in developing countries or working as a locum practice nurse in the Hutt Valley.
Carley joined Petone Medical Centre in 2019 and is new community and primary care health having had over 12 years of acute nursing experience within the hospital environment.
She is interested in helping patients lead healthier lives through health promotion, education and continuity of care.
Carley is married with a fun loving, spirited toddler and dog. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, cycling, gardening, shopping and a good Netflix series!
Lorraine started working at Petone Medical Centre in September 2010. Whilst not living in Petone, she has been a part of the community in various aspects for the past 20 years and enjoys the diversity of the community, the shops and ethnic restaurants. Her interests include handcrafts, walking, gardening, and photography.
Sarah stated working at Petone Medical Centre in March 2013 having a strong background in Medical Centre work. She has two teenage children who keep her busy outside of work. Her interests include netball, rugby and she has a passion for cars (Holden not Ford!) and can often be seen attending V8 motorsport events, drags and speedway.
Julie started working at Petone Medical Centre in December 2018. She has worked as a Medical Receptionist for 6 years and enjoys the fact that she has been able to interact with a wide range of people over the years. She was born in England, grew up in Wellington and has lived in Lower Hutt for 25 years. She has four children, is an avid reader and loves learning new things and watching cricket.
